COVID-19 Business Resources:


Lumber City Development Corporation continues to address the short-term and long-term economic needs of our community during the COVID-19 health crisis.

We are engaged with our local, regional and state leaders as the response to this health crisis develops. This includes programs we are mobilizing to support critical economic activity in North Tonawanda. Lumber City Development Corporation is working with Niagara County as well as other community partners to provide more direct ways to assist, and will continue to share resources as they become available.


Maintaining Operations

The Small Business Administration offers a significant number of programs to meet business capital needs during the COVID-19 crisis. Please download an overview of the available loan programs here and contact LCDC if you need additional support with the application process.

As of March 25, small businesses can maintain operations with assistance of up to $25,000 in under a new Express Bridge Pilot Program. Download the Small Business Administration's guide to the Express Bridge Loan Pilot Program here.

The Small Business Administration programs are connected with local lenders. Working with your existing lender is required for this assistance.

The Small Business Administration has approved a statewide disaster declaration for New York. This enables eligible small businesses to apply for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans at this link.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to businesses unable to meet their obligations and to pay their ordinary and necessary operating expenses. The program provides up to $2 million in necessary working capital during the period before normal operations resume. More information on the program is available at this link.

Workforce and Employee Services

Governor Cuomo has issued Executive Orders to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by allowing only essential business operations continue at this time. Request a waiver for businesses that request desingation as an essential business here.

The US Department of Labor has issued guidance to businesses impacted by COVID-19. See frequently asked questions regarding the Families First Coronavirus Response Act here.

New York State Department of Labor is encouraging businesses to use a Shared Work Program as an alternative to laying off employees by allowing workers to work a reduced work schedule and collect partial unemployment insurance benefits for up to 26 weeks. Instead of cutting staff, businesses are able to reduce the number of hours of all employees or just a certain group. More information is available at this link.
